Membership in Gamla Stans Företagarförening

Being listed on VISIT GAMLA STAN is a benefit included in membership for members of Gamla Stans Företagarförening. The membership fee is modest and helps fund the technical platforms needed to run the website. If you operate multiple businesses at different addresses under the same organization number, one membership is all you need—we’ll list all of your businesses.

Presentation of Your Company

We'll create an initial proposal for how your business can be featured on VISIT GAMLA STAN by gathering images and text from your website or Facebook page. The presentation will therefore be in your own words. and

Choose good photos, a logo, and a short, concise description of your business. Also avoid phrases like “Welcome to our place” or “We have the best meatballs,” since the goal is to inspire visitors to choose to come to Gamla Stan and experience the full range of what Gamla Stan has to offer.

We'll add the businesses to our map and include links to their respective websites and Instagram accounts.

Many businesses are so diverse that they fall under several categories. We list each business under no more than two different categories to avoid repetition.

Hours

Did you know that the most common search query on this page is “opening hours in Gamla Stan”? We’ve now made it easy for visitors to find out which businesses are open by automatically retrieving current opening hours from each business’s Google Business / Google Maps listing.

All you need to do is authorize our AI solution to retrieve the hours from your Google Maps / Google Business profile. Add a suitable photo for which you hold the copyright.

Events - Tips for Organizers

If your business offers events, we’ll list you as an organizer so that your events appear in the Old Town calendar.

The right link makes a big difference

Link to the page where the events are actually listed (e.g.,/calendaror/news). Avoid the home page—it often contains too little information.

You can never import events from Facebook or Instagram. Always use your own website—not third-party aggregator sites.

Pictures

Images are automatically retrieved from the organizer’s event page on their own website. If the organizer has only one image on the page (e.g., a logo), all events will display the same image. The more unique images there are per event on their own website, the better the results will be on VISIT GAMLA STAN.

Tips for the best image quality:

Use landscape-oriented images—they look best in the calendar cards and the widget, i.e., VISIT GAMLA STAN's featured events on the front page.
Just the right size: a width of about 800–1,200 px is plenty. Avoid very large images (over 5 MB)—they take a long time to load.
If the automatic image on your website doesn't display as well on VISIT GAMLA STAN as it does on your own website, feel free to ask the editorial team to upload a different image or adjust the focus point. Email redaktion@visitgamlastan.se and we'll take care of it.

Text and descriptions

Our system retrieves the title, date, time, location, and description directly from the organizer's website. Clear and well-structured information yields the best results. If dates or times are missing from the page, events may be overlooked.

Updates

Events are automatically updated every morning between approximately 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m.

If the events aren't working as expected, please email redaktion@visitgamlastan.se and we'll try to help resolve the issue. Sometimes the settings need to be adjusted so that our system can retrieve your events properly.
